About This Design

When I created this site, I really wanted to do something sorta fun and different.  I almost went the clean and straight-foward route, but I got bored and wanted something that fit my personality better. Don’t get me wrong; I love clean and straight-forward Web design, but I just wasn’t feeling it for my personal site. 

So why the canvas and paint theme?  Well, before computers, I was an art freak.  Drawing and painting is what I loved to do.  It was the first thing that I felt passionate about. I soon moved over to music when I was 13, which continued my enthusiasm for the arts. So, I felt like the paint / canvas theme would capture that enthusiasm for classic art and tie it into the art of Web design. 

I feel like each site I design is a fresh canvas, which is another reason for this design concept.  I am always trying to bring something different to each Web site, whether it’s on the design side or on the development side.  Just like every artist, you always want to keep innovating and learning, while still maintaining your unique style. 

This design really challenged me, even though it may look fairly basic on the front-end.  For the designers out there, It’s completely designed around WordPress and I tried to implement some different techniques.  I used CSS sprites for the main navigation, which I had never used before, not to mention a ton of graphics.  The layout took me awhile to figure out, especially with the canvas repeating and the sprites navigation.  Anyway, I’m still making a ton of changes, but I have some other clients’ projects to finish up first.
